Retired coach and Mayor of Bent Rim, George Averyt, got into the metal building as a hobby when his 'direct heat' cooker would not smoke a brisket that was edible. With a new welder, gloves, grinder, and metal blades for a circular saw and jig saw, and zero experience working with metal, he built his first pit/smoker.

Since then, many custom pit/smokers have gone to happy customers. The pits and smokers may be for the backyard or larger ones on trailers. All pits and smokers are tested prior to delivery to be sure they turn out superior briskets or ribs.
